About Andrea

Andrea Doria Kale has called North Port home for more than a decade, drawn to a community that reminded her of the Long Island neighborhood where she grew up - suburban, hardworking and filled with middle-class families building lives and futures together.

Andrea purchased her North Port home in September 2015, originally imagining it as the place where she would spend vacations until retirement. Life had other plans. After being laid off from her New York career six months later, she made Florida her permanent home and North Port the community where she would begin her next chapter.

Before making Florida her permanent home, Andrea spent nearly 40 years as a researcher and information technology professional with a nonprofit organization funded by the National Institutes of Health. Her career combined research, technology and problem-solving - experience she brings to public service today.

What began as a retirement plan became something much more important: a commitment to the future of the place she had chosen to call home.

Andrea has become deeply engaged in Sarasota County civic life and has seen firsthand how decisions made by local government can shape a community for generations. She believes the Sarasota County Charter belongs to the people who live under it and that serving on the Charter Review Board requires independence, careful judgment, transparency and a willingness to put residents ahead of political interests.

Andrea believes one of Sarasota County's greatest strengths is the distinct character of its communities and natural environment. From North Port's wooded neighborhoods, waterways and abundant wildlife to the coastal character and cultural life of Venice, the Sarasota County community of Englewood, and the vibrant arts and cultural scene of the City of Sarasota, our county offers an extraordinary diversity of places and experiences.

Together with our barrier islands, natural habitats and world-renowned beaches like Siesta Key, each contributes something unique to Sarasota County - and something worth protecting for generations to come.

Andrea is running for the Sarasota County Charter Review Board to help preserve what makes Sarasota County such an extraordinary place to live while preparing responsibly for its future. Growth and change are inevitable. The decisions governing them should protect our natural resources, respect the character of our communities and, above all, serve the people who call Sarasota County home.
