Protect What Makes Sarasota County Home

Why I’m Running

Sarasota County voters have invested for decades in protecting environmentally sensitive lands, wildlife habitat, parks, waterways and public access. Those public investments deserve lasting protection.

I believe the Sarasota County Charter should reflect the priorities of the people who live here and provide meaningful safeguards for the public assets, natural resources and communities that make Sarasota County home.

As a member of the Charter Review Board, I will approach every issue with independence, careful judgment and transparency. I will examine what authority the Charter provides, what Florida law permits, and how the Charter can best protect the long-term interests of Sarasota County residents.

My priorities include protecting Sarasota County from large-scale and hyperscale data center development, preserving Sarasota Memorial as a public health care system, and restoring a meaningful path for citizens to place Charter amendments before the voters.

The Charter belongs to the people. Decisions about Sarasota County's future should remain accountable to them.

Although Andrea is running for the District 5 seat on the Sarasota County Charter Review Board, Charter Review Board members are elected countywide. Andrea must live in District 5 to run for this seat, but voters throughout Sarasota County — from North Port and Englewood to Venice, Sarasota, and every community in between — can vote in the District 5 Charter Review Board race. If you are a Sarasota County voter, Andrea’s race will be on your General Election ballot.

District 5

District 5 Is Overwhelmingly North Port

Sarasota County Charter Review Board members are elected countywide, but each member must reside in the district they represent.

More than 91% of District 5’s registered voters live in the City of North Port.

According to Sarasota County Supervisor of Elections data for August 2026, District 5 had 68,104 registered voters, while the City of North Port had 61,994 — approximately 91% of the district’s registered voters.

The remainder of District 5 includes residents of southern unincorporated Sarasota County, including the Englewood area. Every resident of District 5 deserves representation, regardless of which side of a municipal boundary they live on.

Those boundaries also matter. North Port is an incorporated city with its own government and home-rule authority, while residents in unincorporated areas look directly to Sarasota County for many local government decisions. That can make countywide issues — including growth, infrastructure, water, environmental protection and emerging development such as large-scale data centers — more complicated.

Representing District 5 means understanding both North Port and the communities beyond its city limits, while recognizing that the same issue may involve different governmental authority depending on where a resident lives.
